Dental Crowns & Veneers - Quick yet Dramatic Improvements
Dental veneers provide a dramatic aesthetic enhancement to any smile. Each thin porcelain veneer is bonded over the front of a healthy tooth, easily masking the appearance of teeth that are:
Stained
Irregularly shaped
Crooked, crowded, or gapped
Uneven
Porcelain veneers are handcrafted to the shape, color, and size of teeth that you prefer. In most cases, we apply them in sets of 6-10 across your upper front teeth. The number of veneers needed will depend on how many teeth are visible when you smile.
To qualify for dental veneers, your teeth need to be free of any periodontal disease or active decay. Veneers only cover the visible front surfaces for aesthetic purposes, as opposed to crowns, which go over and around the entire tooth.
Dr. Wang will work with you to create a tooth replacement plan to limit any impact on your surrounding smile.
Got Questions about Crowns & Veneers?
A veneer is like a facade that attaches to the front surface of your tooth while a crown will cover the entire tooth. Crowns are thicker than veneers and are more permanent.
A traditional crown will cover the entire tooth while a 3/4 crown won't cover the entire tooth. 3/4 crowns are used when the underlying tooth is structurally solid.
During your first visit which will last about an hour, we will inspect the damage to the tooth and may remove some of it to make room for the crown. Then we'll take an impression of the tooth and install a temporary crown. This is done to ensure a perfect fit. A permanent crown is then created and installed at a later appointment. The final installation will take about 30 minutes.
There are 3 types of veneers: Porcelain, Ceramic and Composite veneers.
No, we color match the materials to your existing teeth so that the difference in color and tint is imperceptible.
